SEAN O’DONNELL

SEAN O’DONNELL

ATTORNEY

Sean O’Donnell has committed his life to using his legal skills to serve his community. Mr. O’Donnell’s practice focuses on civil litigation and family law.  He is uniquely able to distill complex problems into concise, actionable solutions to help his clients navigate difficult situations. He understands the balancing act business owners face when a lawsuit interrupts their normal operations. He also solves problems with compassion and understanding. His goal is to relieve those who are weary and heavy-laden from the burdens of stressful legal situations.

Mr. O’Donnell grew up in Asheville, North Carolina and attended A.C. Reynolds High School. His service began in 2005 when he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served five years as an Infantry Rifleman and Marine Security Forces Guard. As a Sergeant in the Marine Corps he learned problem solving and leadership from his fellow Marines. He used the G.I. Bill to complete his undergraduate work at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and studied law at the University of Kentucky. He was a
Senior Staff Editor for the Kentucky Law Journal, a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, and President of the Law Student Veterans Organization. He also served underprivileged clients as a student attorney by providing free legal services with the Kentucky Legal Clinic and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic.

After graduating law school, Mr. O’Donnell was selected for the highly prestigious position of Honors Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He honed his craft as a litigator while handling complex tax cases on behalf of the United States. He also defended the federal government from civil actions and gained experience handling highly complex bankruptcy cases all over the United States.

Mr. O’Donnell has extensive experience handling civil matters on behalf of complex clients. After leaving the U.S. Department of Justice he became an Assistant General Counsel at the Pentagon. His work at the Pentagon involved sensitive defense information, fiscal law, Freedom of Information Act, and privacy issues. He also represented the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, the police force responsible for protecting the Pentagon from future terrorist attacks and crime. He handled wrongful death cases, federal tort actions, and first amendment civil suits, and was forced to balance the needs of the taxpayer with the interests of the government. The contradiction between the interests of the government and the people eventually led to his entry into private practice.

Mr. O’Donnell returned to his beloved North Carolina and joined the Kreider team in the summer of 2025. He now uses his extensive federal litigation expertise to serve clients in the Piedmont-Triad area. When not practicing law, Mr. O’Donnell enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is an active practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and coaches youth jiu jitsu in the Greensboro community. He is also an avid archer, outdoorsman, and baseball fan.
