DARREN HOWARD
ATTORNEY
Darren Howard practices in the area of domestic law, where he has represented hundreds of clients in State Court since graduating from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1997. For many years, he was based in High Point where he routinely represented clients from Guilford, Davidson, Randolph and Forsyth counties.
Prior to law school, Darren served as an active-duty intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy. There, he was assigned to a civilian agency within the intelligence community as a liaison who regularly briefed national intelligence officials within his area of expertise. The Navy also encouraged Darren to attend post-graduate school, sending him to Johns Hopkins University’s Carey Business School where he obtained a master’s degree in finance even while working full-time and being deployable with little or no notice. After deciding to leave the Navy to attend law school, Darren remained within the Individual Ready Reserve for several years.
Throughout his professional career both in the Navy and the practice of law, Darren has taken pride in his attention to detail and immersing himself in the issues faced by his clients. He is a strong advocate of meeting with each client to make sure his approach is understood and consistent with client goals based upon their unique circumstances. Whether complex or straightforward, his years of experience enable him to truly understand what his clients are going through and to develop strategies to maximize their options.
Darren has also represented many injured clients in the area of Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation, both on the State and Federal level. Although he concentrates on representing individual clients, he has also been retained to defend local small and medium-sized companies that have been embroiled in workers’ compensation coverage disputes. This breadth of experience means he is able to quickly identify the strengths and weaknesses of each claim, develop an appropriate litigation strategy and move each client’s case forward to an optimized resolution.
When not practicing law, Darren enjoys spending time with his daughters, reading history books and traveling. He also enjoys managing local hunting leases with his friends, where bowhunting is just an excuse for being outdoors to enjoy the peace & quiet.
